Cheryl VanderLaan
Manager of Physician Strategy and Recruitment, Advocate Sherman Hospital
Cheryl VanderLaan is the Manager of Physician Strategy and Recruitment and has been working with Advocate Sherman Hospital for 17 years.
She was born in Aurora, Illinois and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Georgia State University . Cheryl lived in Guatemala for one year and worked in many different regions of the country to help provide resources to the underserved population. She has spent time volunteering in LaPaz, Bolivia and most recently on a medical mission trip to Quito, Ecuador where she coordinated an ophthalmology clinic.
Cheryl returned to the Chicago suburbs 20 years ago to pursue a career in the medical field and found the perfect opportunity at Advocate Sherman Hospital.
She is passionate about traveling the world & learning about different cultures. She loves to scuba dive, sky dive, cook international cuisine and study foreign languages.
Cheryl is married and lives in Crystal Lake and has a chocolate lab named Reese and has recently rescued a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Tsavo West .
